SEASIDE, Calif. –
Sha'nece Garrett recorded her first career double-double in an Otter uniform and
Abbey Hadsell poured in a career-high 11 points, but Cal Poly Pomona sunk the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team late, 65-60, Saturday afternoon from the Kelp Bed.
Garrett paced the Otters with 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while also tallying two steals. Hadsell was 3-for-4 from beyond the arc to record 11 points on the day.
CSUMB outrebounded Pomona, 35-33, and showcased 40 of its points off the bench. The Otters also boasted half of their points in the paint.
Down 10 entering the final quarter, the Otters rallied and evened the score at 56 when
Ciarah Michalik hit from long range with 3:00 left. The Broncos then pulled away late with five straight points to record the road win.
GARRETT JOINS THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE CLUB:
Sha'nece Garrett recorded her first double-double at CSUMB when she tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday. Her lone collegiate double-double before joining the Otters was an 18-point, 11-rebound outburst while at Merced College in 2020.
BENCH EXPLOSION: The CSUMB bench was responsible for 40 of the 60 points on Saturday.
Sha'nece Garrett led the charge with her team-high 13 points.
Abbey Hadsell poured in 11 and
Ledjan Pahukoa (9) and
Gabby Kime (7) combined for 16.
