Otters Go to the Wire with Cal State East Bay Once Again

CSUMB downed in final minute, 60-58

HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team started the second half of CCAA play with a 60-58 defeat at the hands of Cal State East Bay on Thursday from Pioneer Gym.

The Otters nearly returned the favor from their overtime loss in early December at the Kelp Bed, but a couple good looks in the final minute would not connect to extend the game.

Despite a cold shooting night, CSUMB forced 22 CSUEB turnovers and outrebounded the Pioneers, 37-31.

Deyliana Lewis paced the Otters with 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting, while Ciarah Michalik chipped in 12 and handed out five assists with no turnovers.

SHAW CRACKS THE TOP-20: Sarah Shaw scored seven points on Thursday to move into the CSUMB all-time scoring top-20. The Dana Point native now has amassed 483 career points to pass Stefanie Corgel for 20th all-time.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT: POINTS: Deyliana Lewis, 15; REBOUNDS: Kiki Roberts, 9; ASSISTS: Ciarah Michalik, 5; BLOCKS: Deyliana Lewis, 4; STEALS: Kiki Roberts, 3.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT: CSUMB will conclude its road trip on Saturday, Jan. 27, when the Otters face the Gators of San Francisco State at 1 p.m. from The Swamp.
