Otters Snap Losing Streak With 78-63 Victory Over Pioneers

SEASIDE, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team broke its five-game losing streak with a 78-63 victory over Cal State East Bay on Friday night at the Otter Sports Center.

Freshman #Davion Berry# recorded his first double-double of his career with 24 points and 12 rebounds.  Senior #Sean Jergo# set a new career-high with 22 points on top of his seven rebounds.

The Otters went 13-for-27 in the first half to take a 34-29 lead at the break.

The Pioneers tied the game up at 35 one minute into the second half on a layup by Mark Samuels. CSUMB retook the lead for the next four minutes, but back-to-back CSUEB 3-pointers gave the Pioneers their largest lead of the game at 46-46 at 14:39.

CSUMB went on a 12-4 run and never gave up the lead again to clinch a 78-63 victory.

The Otters out-rebounded the Pioneers 48-31. CSUMB shot

The Pioneers were led by Samuels with 30 points after shooting 10-for-18 from the field.

CSUMB welcomes UC San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 20, in its final home game of the regular season. The Otters will honor their six seniors prior to the game; Kris Jones, Keith Wilson, Sean Jergo, Jamelle Tolliver, Shaun Williams and Django Evans.
