Otters Head to Northwest Nazarene for Super Regionals

CSUMB is making its third straight Super Regional appearance

May 20, 2025

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team is headed to its third straight Super Regional as the Otters head to Nampa, Idaho, to face Northwest Nazarene for a chance to earn a berth to the College World Series.

The Otters are making their third straight Super Regional appearance after topping regional top-seed Westmont twice on Championship Saturday to take the NCAA West Regional Pod #2 title. CSUMB enters the Super Regional at Northwest Nazarene with a 39-17 overall record. The 39 wins equal the program record.

Monterey Bay won the CCAA regular season title for the fourth year in a row and then claimed its third straight tournament championship to earn its eighth berth to the NCAA postseason.

KW Quilici, a NCBWA and D2CCA All-Region selection was named the CCAA Player of the Year and heads to Idaho with a team-leading .392 average, adding 13 home runs and 50 RBI. Javier Felix, who also garnered all-region accolades from both outlets, was named the CCAA Newcomer of the Year. He enters the Super Regional with a conference-best 21 doubles and sports a .322 average with 11 home runs and 42 RBI.

The Otters are making their eighth appearance in the NCAA postseason and fourth straight after clinching the No. 3 seed in the region. CSUMB enters Super Regional play with a 15–16 all–time mark, including a 3–1 record at the regional at Westmont.

CSUMB has won at least 30 games in nine of its 14 full seasons under Head Coach Walt White, including the last six in a row. CSUMB tied the school record of 39 this season that was set in 2013, 2018, 2023, 2024 and now 2025.

CSUMB became the first CCAA program to win four-straight regular season titles outright since Cal State Northridge (1970-73). The Otters clinched the championship on the final day of the regular season as they downed San Francisco State, 13-3.

For the third straight season the Otters have claimed the CCAA regular season and tournament championships. CSUMB becomes the first program since UC San Diego (2010-12) to sweep the hardware. The Otters had to win the regular season final series against the Gators and then took them down in the final two games of the tournament to earn their third straight double.
