SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer senior
Jennifer Limon headlined eight conference honors for the Otters as she was named the CCAA Defender of the Year, the league office announced.
Limon became the first CSUMB women's soccer player to earn a player of the year honor. The San Jose native anchored the Cal State Monterey Bay defense, one of the best defensive units in the west region.
The Otters began the season with only two goals allowed in their first seven matches. They would go on to allow only 11 in 18 games, with Limon getting the start in each one. As a team, CSUMB tied for the conference lead in goals against average (.604) and was second in save percentage (.820).
Limon was named to the first team. Her sister Yohanna was joined by
Danielle Castro on the second team.
Yohanna Limon started in 17 games and joined her sister in helping form one of the top defensive units in the league. Castro played in all 18 matches and earned 17 starts. The midfielder handed out one assist.

The Otters will be taking on Cal State East Bay in their first ever CCAA Tournament semifinal appearance. The two teams will meet on Friday, Nov. 15, at College Creek Field on the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt.
