October 08, 2024

CORNING, Calif. — Liam Allder's (Sundsvall, Sweded) final round 67 vaulted him eight places up the leader board to a Cal State Monterey Bay-best eighth place finish at the Wildcat Classic Tuesday at Rolling Hills Golf Course.

Allder's clean round included five birdies and helped CSUMB to a third place finish in its first tournament of the 2024-25 campaign.

After going 5-under himself in the second round, Simon Björken (Hudiksval, Sweden) grinded out a 3-over 75 Tuesday and finished the 54-hole event at 4-under 212, good for 11th place. Fellow Swede Wilhelm Berg von Linde (Stockholm) carded an even par 72 and moved up two spots to finish in 20th place at 1-over for the tournament. Sophomore Tony Tao (Eastvale/Western Christian HS) added the final Otter scoring round of the day with a 73.

Both Berg von Linde and Tao made eagle on the 550-yard par 5 first hole to highlight CSUMB's individual play.

As a team, CSUMB finished 1-under in the final round and 8-under for the tournament to earn a third place finish. Cal State East Bay won the tournament going away at 33-under. Host Chico State finished second at 21-under.

Chico's Travis Miller took medalist honors when his final round 67 lifted him past 36-hole leader Giulio Zanichelli of Academy of Art to 13-under.

CSUMB jumps right back into action next week hosting the Otter Invitational Oct. 14–15 at Bayonet Golf course. Tournament play begins with 36 holes Monday
