Trio Scores in Double Figures In Loss at No. 14 CSUDH

Sarah Shaw records her third double-double, but Toros win 83-66

CARSON, CALIF. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team led most of the first half against the undefeated Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros, but couldn't quite hang with the top team in the CCAA, falling 83-66 Thursday evening at Torodome.

The Otters came out of the gates hot, knocking down three first quarter 3–pointers to build a 22–12 lead with 1:52 to go in the first quarter. The Toros chipped away at the deficit, taking their first lead midway through the second quarter. Although the Otters kept things close well into the final period, Dominguez Hills pulled away down the stretch.

Sarah Shaw (Dana Point/JSerra HS) with her third double–double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Also in double figures were Gigi Israel (San Marcos/UC Merced) and Jordan Beaumont (San Mateo/Aragon HS), who finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Asia Jordan picked off an Otter pass with the Toros leading 80–64 with 2:33 to go.

STARTING OFF HOT… The Otters scored 22 points in the first quarter and 39 points in the first half. Both totals were their second highest of the season. CSUMB score 24 points in the first period and 39 in the first half in an 81–59 win over Holy Names University on Nov. 12, the second game of the season.

FINDING THEIR OFFENSIVE FOOTING…
The Otters scored 60+ points for their first time since Dec. 8 at Cal State L.A. The 66 points were the most the Otters have put up against CCAA foe since they scored 70 against San Marcos in December of 2021.

BEAUMONT, ISRAEL HEAT UP… Jordan Beaumont and Gigi Israel connected on a combined 6-of-13 from 3–point range in this one, as CSUMB shot 8-for-22 from deep as a team. That marks the Otters best performance from beyond the arc since their season opener against Academy of Art, when they connected on 9-of-22 as a team.

POST PRESENCE… CSUMB forwards combined for 31 of its 66 points. Headlined by Sarah Shaw's double-double, Shaw, Kiki Griffin, Gabby Kime and Samiya Terry all served as viable scoring threats this evening.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Gigi Israel 11. REBOUNDS: Sarah Shaw 11. ASSISTS: Mikayla Mabie/Amelia Smith 4. BLOCKS: Sarah Shaw 1. STEALS: Samiya Terry 4.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters conclude their 2–game roadtrip at Cal State East Bay on Saturday. The women will tip-off at 1 p.m. as the opener of doubleheader action with the Otter men.
