STOCKTON, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team waited until the top of ninth inning to score as they trailed 3-0 for most of the game.
However, rally was cut short with CSUMB still down a run as the Otters were eliminated from the CCAA tournament by Cal State L.A., 3-2.
The Golden Eagles found three runs against CSUMB starter
Drew Kozain in the third inning. CSULA led by that margin until the eighth inning as LA starter Christian Broussard held the Otter offense at Bay through eight shutout innings.
In the top of the ninth, the Otters got runners on second and third and
Jacob Tonascia put a charge into one that hit off the Banner Island Ballparks version of the Green Monster for a 2-RBI double. However,
Zakry Taylor struck out looking to end the hope of the last chance comeback.
Monterey Bay ends the 2017 season with a 28-24 overall record.
