SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball returned to the Kelp Bed after not playing a home game since Jan. 7. Unfortunately, Cal Poly Pomona spoiled the homecoming by handing CSUMB its sixth loss in a row by a score of 80-59.
There was a bright spot, however, sophomore
Jessie Evans (Arnold, Calif.) had her coming out party as she netted a career high 17 points to lead the Otters. Close behind Evans were the usual suspects in
McKenna Hill (Ventura, Calif.) and
Victoria Dorn (Seaside HS) who chipped in 16 and 15, respectively.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… CPP's Casey McWilliam hit a 3-pointer to extend the Bronco lead to 20 points with 6:09 remaining in the game.
JUST GETTING STARTED... Playing as a redshirt sophomore,
Jessie Evans had her coming out party on Friday night with a career-high 17 points on 6-10 shooting, including 5-9 from beyond the arc. Her previous high was earlier this season when she scored eight against Notre Dame de Namur on Nov. 16.
LEADING THE WAY: With her 16 points tonight,
McKenna Hill has led the Otters in scoring nine times. That includes the last seven games and eight of last nine games.
LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Evans -- 17;
REBOUNDS: Courtney Keaton (Bishop Montgomery HS), Kylie Fujioka (Keppel HS), Hill
-- 4; ASSISTS: Aubri Smith (Buena HS) -- 7; BLOCKS: NONE
