SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team continued its strong run of play by closing a 4-match homestand with a 26–24, 25–22, 29–27 sweep of Humboldt State Saturday night in The Kelp Bed.
The Otters improved to 2–1 in the CCAA (3–5 overall) with their second sweep of the season and first since opening day. Humboldt dropped to 1–2 and 3–4.
Several players starred for CSUMB. On offense,
Jessica Malcolm (Lodi HS) led the way with a match–high 14 kills while
Victoria Clardy (Westminster/Marina HS) hit .600 with a 6–0–10 line. On defense,
DJ Gresham-Ryder (Stockton/Chavez HS) had another huge match at the net with six blocks while
Rachel Cookus (Thousand Oaks HS) added 20 digs.
Humboldt saved four set points in the opening set before a Clardy kill gave the Otters the win. The Lumberjacks served for the third set three times before the Otters scored the final three points to end it.
CSUMB hits the road for its next three matches, beginning Tuesday at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson.
