SEASIDE, Calif.-- It took ten innings for this one to be decided but with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth inning,
Matt Urakami (San Jose, Calif. / Branham HS) was able to hit a high bouncing ball in the infield that drove in
Kevin Davidson (Yucaipa HS) as the winning run on Saturday afternoon against Holy Names in a 3–2 win.
Both of the Otter runs before the walkoff came by way of a sacrifice fly, one off the bat of Davidson and the second from
Justin Flores (Fresno, Calif. / Clovis West HS), whose RBI tied the game at 2–2 in the bottom of the seventh. The game was closer than it should have been as the Otters stranded 13 runners on base, leaving the bases loaded three times.
The Hawks got their runs off of two different CSUMB pitchers as a total of five pitchers were used in the game.
Kory Groves (Citrus Heights, Calif. / Oakmont HS) got the win (3–1) after not allowing a run and striking out three batters in three innings of work.
\With Urakami's game–winning base hit in the tenth, the Otters improve to 4–0 in extra inning games including three walk offs at home.
Monterey Bay will resume CCAA play on Friday, April 24 when Cal State Dominguez Hills come to town. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Friday.
Go Otters!
