ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Senior Chris Daniels (Citrus Heights/Sierra College) racked up a career-best nine strike outs in Cal State Monterey Bay's 6-3 loss to No. 30 Sonoma State at Seawolf Diamond Saturday afternoon.

With yesterday's twinbill sweep, the Otters settled for a series split with the Seawolves who are second in the CCAA standings.

After the Otters took a 1-0 lead on senior Travis Bonner's (Los GAtos/West Valley CC) RBI double, Daniels concluded the inning by striking out the side.

CSUMB held the lead until an error in the bottom of the third enabled the Seawolves to even it at 1-1.

Sonoma State took its first lead of the game in the next inning on Justin Serrao's 2 RBI double down the left line.

After a single Seawolf run in the fifth, the Otters cut the gap to one with two runs in the top of the sixth. Back-to-back doubles by Mark Hurley (Hollister/College of San Mateo) and Richie Johnson (San Leandro/San Jose State) made it 4-2.  Sophomore Josh Heinz (Santa Clarita/West Ranch HS) groundout to second scored CSUMB's second run of the inning.

Sonoma added single runs in the seventh and eighth frames to clinch the win.

The Otters host Cal State San Bernardino in a 4-game series beginning Friday, April 25 at 3 p.m.
