GAME 2: CSUMB 3, Chico State 2
The Otters erased a 2-0 deficit with a two-out three-run rally in their final at-bat.

After junior Brian Hamm (Pleasanton/Chabot College) drew a 10-pitch walk and advanced to second unchallenged, freshman pinch hitter Josh Heinz (Santa Clarita/West Ranch HS) singled up the middle to make it 1-0.  Sophomore Andres Coll (Panorama City/Arleta HS) entered the game to pinch run for Heinz.  Hurley doubled down the right line and Chico State's Ronnie Galosic halted Coll at third after an on-target throw.  Johnson doubled down the opposite line to push Coll and Hurley across the plate to give CSUMB its first lead of the game.

The 3-2 lead proved to be enough for CSUMB after junior starter Jeff Owen (Clovis East HS) went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh.  Owen tossed a seven strong innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Owen's fourth strikeout gave him the new title of CSUMB's career strikeout record holder, vaulting him past Patrick McClain's 169 strikeouts.  He has fanned 172 batters in 33 appearances and 182.2 innings pitched.

Chico State took the lead with a run in the first after a pitch hit Eric Angerer and later scored on a single by Jeffery Ortega.

The Wildcat's second run came two innings later when Otter catch Michael Lonsdale (Castro Valley/Chabot College) was called for catcher interference while Ortega was batting and Cody Slader was attempting to steal home.
