BOX SCORE 2 SEASIDE, Calif. – Twenty-four hits and 17 runs equals a twinbill sweep for the No. 24 Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team against visiting No. 4 Chico State Saturday at the Otter Sports Complex. The Otters took the opener 14-2 before winning the second game 3-0.
Improving to 15-7 overall and 10-5 in conference, the Otters handed Chico State (12-3, 5-2 CCAA) its first two losses in CCAA play.
Senior
Tommy George (Elk Grove, Calif./Elk Grove HS) went 3-for-5 with two runs and a RBI while fellow classmates
Jason Merjano (San Ramon, Calif./Sierra College) and
Victor Rasor-Thompson (San Diego, Calif./Univ. of San Diego) each collected four hits on the day.
The series concludes Sunday with a single game beginning at 11 a.m.

Will Anderson (4-2) tossed seven shutout innings to earn the win, striking out six batters while allowing only two hits and walking
one.
The Otters took a quick lead in the first with three runs on singles by Rasor-Thompson,
Mark Hurley (Hollister, Calif./College of San
ateo) and
Travis Bonner (Los Gatos, Calif./West Valley College).
After two scoreless innings, the Otters spread out 11 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to secure the victory.
The Wildcats broke up the shutout in the ninth with two runs.
Chico State's Ryan O'Shea took the loss after 3 and 2/3 innings of work, giving up eight runs (seven earned) and walking two.

Earining his fifth victory of the season, sophomore
Jeff Owen (Clovis, Calif./Clovis East) threw his second complete game and first shutout of 2013. The right-hander tied a career-best with seven strikeouts while walking only three.
In the third inning, senior
Jesse Olson (Citrus Heights, Calif./Sierra College) hit a 2 RBI single through the right side, scoring Rasor-Thompson and senior
Brian Haggett (Hollister, Calif./West Valley College) who reached on a single and fielder's choice respectively.
The Otters added an insurance run in the fifth after senior
David Garcia (Gilroy, Calif./Mission College) doubled and then scored on George's single into the right center gap.
