Brandon Ward posted his seventh 20-plus point game of the season Tuesday versus East Bay.

MONTEREY, Calif. — Cal State East Bay entered Tuesday game with Cal State Monterey Bay as the worst rebounding team in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. But the Pioneers did a job on the glass and then some, grabbing a season-high 42 rebounds in a 91-67 win over the Otters at Monterey Peninsula College.

Brandon Ward (Riverside/Woodcrest HS) enjoyed another strong outing, finishing with a game-high 20 points while freshman guard
Courtland Wharton (San Bernardino/Aquinas HS) led all players with a season-high 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough this night.
CSUMB raced to an early lead, holding its biggest advantage at 17-11 six minutes into the contest. But East Bay went on a roll from that point, out-scoring the Otters 23-7 over the ensuing six minutes to push its lead to double figures at 34-24. CSUMB cut the deficit to 47-40 by halftime and pulled to within four early in the second half before the Pioneers pulled away for good.
In addition to Ward,
Geoff McIntosh (Gig Harbor, Wash.) came off the bench to score 10 points for CSUMB. Roshun Wynne and Tre Maudlin led East Bay with 18 points apiece.
CSUMB returns to campus for its final two home games of the season, hosting UC San Diego Friday and Cal State San Bernardino Saturday. Both games will tipoff at 7:30 p.m. as the nightcaps of men's/women's doubleheader action.
