ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday to Sonoma State by the scores of 11-4 and 9-4 in non-conference action.
#Danny Nelson# and #Tyler Soto# each recorded two hits for the day. Starting pitchers #Aaron Appino# and #Jacob Crose# took the losses.
“We competed well and are making progress to raise the bar of the program,” said head coach #Walt White#. “The team will continue to get better.”
The Otters play their home opener on Thursday, Feb. 10 against Biola at 2 p.m.
Game 1: Sonoma State 11, CSUMB 4

After two and half of scoreless innings, the Seawolves put three runs on the board off one hit and one error. The Otters evened the score in their next at bat on singles by #Randall Packard# and #Tony Hernandez#.
Sonoma State answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, followed by a run in the fifth and two in the seventh. Both teams posted a run in the eighth.

The Otters took a one-run lead in the first before Sonoma State had its most productive inning of the day, scoring seven runs on four hits.
The Seawolves would cruise to a 9-4 victory on eight hits including a three-run homer by Cameron Cook.
