SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team fell 68-66 to the Wildcats of Chico State on Thursday night at the Kelp Bed.
Tonight's loss eliminates the Otters from postseason. The Otters drop to 9-16 overall and 7-14 in Caliifornia Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action while the Wildcats improved to 14-11, 10-11 in conference play.
Sophomore
Davion Berry scored a game-high 23 points, making 13-of-16 from the charity stripe. Senior #Warren Freeman# contributed 12 points and sophomore #Brandon Ward# added 11 points and four assists.
After trailing 41-30 at the half, the Otters outscored the Wildcats 36-27 in the final 20 minutes of play. Chico State had a slight edge in rebounds (27 to 26) and shooting percentage (45.7 to 44.7).
Chico State's Sean Park scored 21 points while Jay Flores and Roderick Hawkins added 13 points apiece.
The Otters conclude their 2010-2011 season on Friday, Feb. 25, welcoming Cal State Stanislaus to the Kelp Bed. Prior to the 7:30 p.m. tip-off, CSUMB will honor seniors #Warren Freeman# and #Darroll Phillips#.
