SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team fell to San Francisco State University at Maloney Field today, 6-1, in a non-conference match-up.

Senior first baseman #Ryan Chagonjian# reached base three times for the Otters, with two walks and a single to left field.

The Gators scored first,  posting one run on the board in their first at bat.

In the bottom of the third, the Gators hit two singles and a double to score two more runs.

Senior #Joey Friedman# doubled to left field, breaking the no-hitter in the top of the fifth. Freshman #Nolan Murray# singled through the left side, advancing Friedman to third. Freshman #Ronnie Fhurong# fouled out to first base, giving Friedman the opportunity to score and Murray moved to third base making it 3-1.

The Gators answered back in the bottom of the fifth with a double to left field by junior Drew Anderson.  Senior Geoff Downing hit a single scoring Anderson making the score 4-1.

SF State scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh.

The Otters were out-hit by the Gators, 12-3.

CSUMB will take to the field this Friday, March 12, against Cal State L.A. starting at 2 p.m. in the California Colligate Athletic Association match-up.
