FIRST PITCH:
The Otters are searching for their first win in California Collegaite Athletic Association (CCAA) play as they travel to San Bernardino for a four-game series against the Coyotes.

NEXT WEEK:
CSUMB hosts 10 of their next 13 games at the Otter Baseball Field, beginning with a four-game series against Cal Poly Pomona on March 7.

SCOUTING THE COYOTES:
Cal State San Bernardino opened CCAA action 1-3 against Chico State last weekend.  The Coyotes picked up a 12-2 victory in the nightcap on Friday, Feb. 20. In the final two games of the series, Chico State's pitching staff shutout CSUSB 2-0 and 4-0.

The Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team: 2nd in doubles (32), 3rd in hits (139), 3rd in triples (4), 3rd in stolen bases (15), 1st in batters struck out (91).

#Steve Mays# - 1st in hits (24), 1st in RBI (16)

Matt DeJesus# - 1st in doubles (8)

#Patrick McClain# - 1st in strike outs (24), 7th in ERA (1.89).

Upcoming games - “This weekend is the biggest series of the year as we attempt to get ourselves out of the cellar.

MAYS BAT REMAINS HOT:
Currently on a 14-game hitting streak, senior #Steve Mays# broke the CSUMB record this past weekend, bypassing teammate #Andrew Marquardt#'s 11-game streak set in 2008. Mays is batting .375 in 64 at bats with 24 hits, four doubles, a triple and three home runs. He also leads the team in runs batted in with a total of 16.

YOUTH TRAINING CAMP:
With baseball season right around the corner, The CSUMB Baseball Coaching staff and players are putting on a Youth Spring Training Camp on March 22.   For more information, please visit the CSUMB baseball website.
Also on March 8, 2009, the first 100 kids attending the game will receive a baseball schedule poster courtesy of the CSUMB baseball team.  Gates open at 10 am for the twinbill against Cal Poly Pomona.  An autograph session will be held in between the 1st and 2nd games of the doubleheader.
