MONMOUTH, Ore. --- Cal State Monterey Bay split its doubleheader with Western Oregon University on Saturday, winning the second game 7-5 after losing the first 5-12 at the Western Oregon University Field in Monmouth, Ore.
The Otters made eight errors in the opener. #Lucas Allendorf #(2-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits in six innings of work. Knuckeballer #Norman Hebert,# was the most effective pitcher of the game, tossing the final inning of the game without allowing a run.
#Cody Guarnera# went 2-2 in the game, coming in as a pinch hitter. #Ryan Chagonjian# also came in to pinch hit and went 1-1 with 2 RBIs.
Leadoff batter #Andrew Degarmo# went 4-4 with 2 runs and an RBI in the second game to lead CSUMB to the 7-5 victory. The Otters led 4-0 before the Wolves scored five in the fourth off starter #Patrick McClain# (2-4). McClain made quick work of the Wolves in the fifth and CSUMB scored three in the top of the sixth to retake the lead for good. #Brian Callen# pitched the final two innings to earn the save, giving up just one hit.
