Sonoma Sweeps CSUMB Baseball Team

Seawolves win 8-7, 11-5

ROHNERT PARK --- The Otters scored a dozen runs Saturday, but it wasn't enough as Cal State Monterey Bay fell 8-7, 11-5 to Sonoma State.

In the first game, #Jeff Bernacil# singled to drive in #Thomas Incavigila# to give CSUMB a 7-6 lead in the top of the inning, but Sonoma came back in the bottom of the inning with four singles and scored two runs off Charles Grosser to win the game.

For the Otters, #Steve Mays# went 3-3 with 2 RBIs. #Andrew Marquardt# was 2-5 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. #Addis O'Connor# started the game and pitched four innings and gave up four runs on five hits, though just one run was earned.

The two teams traded blasts back and forth in the second game. Sonoma scored in the bottom of the first and CSUMB scored in the top of the second. The Otters scored three more in the top of the third and Sonoma came back with three in the bottom of the third. Sonoma took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth and the Otters tied it up in the top of the fifth.

However, Sonoma scored six in the bottom of the fifth and CSUMB had no answer for that. Brian Callen took the loss. Marquardt led CSUMB's offense, going 2-3 with 2 runs and an RBI. #Daniel Barras# was 1-3 with 2 runs and an RBI.
