The Otters begin their California Collegiate Athletic Association Conference schedule next week, hosting
Chico State on Friday, Dec. 5 followed by Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday, Dec. 6.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS:
AAU (0-2) shot only 18.4 percent from the fi eld against NCAA Division I University of San Francisco on
Saturday, Nov. 21, falling 74-23 to the Dons. Freshman Hunter Hayden went 3-for-7 from the floor and led the team with four rebounds.
LAST GAME RECAP:
Senior #Steve Monreal# scored 28 points and was perfect at the line, 14 -for-14, to lift the Otters to a 90-86 overtime victory against the University of Alaska, Fairbanks in their season opener at the Otter Sports Center on Tuesday, Nov. 18...after leading CSUMB in double-doubles last year with 11, #Joe Mitchell# began this final collegiate season with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Senior #Dante Green# added another double-double with 11 points and 10 boards...sophomore #Warren Freeman# went 6-for-8 on the floor and connected on one free-throw to finish with 13 points...the Nanooks were led by Jon Moe with 29 points and Emmanuel Jenkins with 25 points...CSUMB outrebounded UAF, 50-37.
RECORD WATCH:
Senior Joe Mitchell is 61 points away from accomplishing 750 career points. Mitchell posted a team-high 11 double-doubles last year in points and rebounding.
LOOKING BACK:
Cal State Monterey Bay wrapped up last year on a high, winning 10 of their last 11 regulars season conference games, ending the CCAA season with a 11-9 record...the Otters finished the season 12-15, tying the school record for most NCAA Division II victories in a season...last season, CSUMB shooters from behind the arc were ranked 13th in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage (40.4).
