FRESNO, Calif. --- Cal State Monterey Bay lost an overtime heartbreaker to Division I Fresno State 85-80 Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. 

#Augie Johnston# poured in 31 points, including seven of 11 from three-point range, in 43 minutes of play.  #Joe Mitchell# recorded his fourth double double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds while #Jose Sanchez# had 10 points for the Otters.

With CSUMB leading 75-72 and on the verge of a huge upset victory, Fresno State's Bryan Harvey hit a second chance three-pointer with two seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.  The Bulldogs hit key free throws down the stretch during the overtime to escape the upset minded Otters.

Fresno State led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but a Johnston three-pointer made it 37-37 going into halftime. The Otters shot 53 percent from the field in a back and forth second half battle.

CSUMB continued its good shooting from the free throw line with a 13 of 16 (81.3 percent) performance against the Bulldogs.

The Otters (1-7) don't return to action until a CCAA match up at Chico State on Jan. 4.
